How to make Anpo Persimmon Cream Cheese

Anpo persimmons from Fukushima are characterized by their bright orange color, smooth texture, and rich sweetness.
Smoked with sulfur in the traditional way and then dried, the dried persimmons have beautiful color and concentrated sweetness without the use of any additives.
Anpo persimmons and cream cheese are a perfect match, and are recommended as a dessert or as a snack with wine or sake.

INGREDIENTS: 2 servings

  • 1 Anpo persimmon
  • 30g cream cheese
  • Crackers (or sliced baguettes) as needed

INSTRUCTIONS

Cut
  • Remove the stem and seeds from the Anpo persimmon and cut into bite-sized pieces.
  • Cut the cream cheese into half-inch cubes.

Serve on a plate

  • Serve with crackers (or sliced baguettes).
